Start the full day Sumela tour at 9:30 from our office and drive to Sumela Monastery, which is located in the Macka district in a 45-minute scenic drive. Arrive in the car park area and then take a shuttle bus to the pathway leading to the monastery. After a short walk, visit the magnificent structure on the cliff face, with a deep history and spiritual importance, before backtracking to get back on the course of action.
After that, we go up Zigana Mountain, which is roughly 2000 meters high. One will enjoy this great view with a nice lunch at the top. Next, we visit Hamsikoy, which is famous for creamy rice pudding with fresh milk from that region, prepared with traditional recipes for different tastes.
Our tour continues through the Zigana Tunnel, which is the third longest in the world, to the Torul Glass Terrace. Situated 240 meters above the ground, this is a panoramic platform providing an exhilarating view of the Torul district. We will see the magnificent Karaca Cave, adorned with interesting stalactites, stalagmites, and travertines.
Before the tour concludes, we visit a shop that sells traditional fruit pulp and kome-sweets unique to the region of Gumushane. This full-day excursion brings together history, natural beauty, and local flavors in an unforgettable exploration of Trabzon's wonders.
